Szczecin Metropolitan Region

As the largest city on the German-Polish border with metropolitan characteristics, Szczecin even reaches the peripheral areas of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region. In order to support development opportunities in north-eastern Brandenburg and the relationship between Berlin and Szczecin, the “Development Concept for the Cross-Border Metropolitan Region Szczecin” demonstrated in 2015 options for optimising services to the public, improving infrastructural accessibility to Berlin, Szczecin and other spaces and developing it as a model region for renewable energy. The Spatial Planning Department Berlin-Brandenburg intends to participate as a project partner in the Interreg A project on cross-border data monitoring in the Szczecin metropolitan region, due to begin in May 2020, in order to provide assistance such as quantitative data for formal planning.
