Transnational Cooperation – Interreg B

European Territorial Cooperation, better known as Interreg, supports territorial cohesion and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Interreg B promotes cooperation between various stakeholders in transnational projects, who are tackling problems together or develop transnational strategies.

The states of Berlin and Brandenburg are part of the transnational programme regions Baltic Sea and Central Europe. The Joint Spatial Planning Department Berlin-Brandenburg represents the two states in the German committees of both programme areas.

The preparations for the new funding period 2021 to 2027 are ongoing. The new cooperation programmes should be submitted to the European Commision for approval at the end of 2020. The first calls for projects are planned for 2021.Some projects of the current funding period are still working and gradually completing their projects.
