Transnational Cooperation – Interreg B
European Territorial Cooperation, better known as Interreg, supports territorial cohesion and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Interreg B promotes cooperation between various stakeholders in transnational projects, who are tackling territorial challenges together or develop transnational strategies, networks or platforms.
The states of Berlin and Brandenburg are part of the transnational programme regions Baltic Sea and Central Europe.
The programme priorities and specific objectives in the funding period 2021-2027 are innovation, climate/energy and environment. A novelty is that cooperation to create platforms or to develop integrated concepts is given particular importance through its own priority. Additionally, smaller projects now allow solutions to be explored on a more limited scale.
The Joint Spatial Planning Department Berlin-Brandenburg is involved in the Interreg B projects H2CE (lead partner) and MECOG-CE (project partner) in the Central Europe programme.
